WP-Beschreibung / Descrizione dei WP
Work Packages (WP) describe the work units within a project, the set of specific activities that are needed to achieve the set objective.
WP1 | PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION
The objectives of this WP are: efficient management, internal and institutional communication, results monitoring, official meetings organization, financial coordination. Activities included: start-up activities, project management, communication.
The communication strategy will be based on:
– Internal and external communication
-Media relations and publications, with media liaison for promotion
-Digital activities, for web and social media promotion
-Public events and stakeholder involvement, with organisation of events .
The results will be delivered according to EU communication policy and needs.
WP2 | USER-CENTRED DESIGN PROCESS – FROM CONTEXT ANALYSIS TO EVALUATION
This WP is organised on User-Centrd activities for the duration of the project, for the development and evaluation of the BeSENSHome platform. The activities are in accordance with ISO 9241-210: Processes for the design of usableusable interactive systems. They are mapped in a multi-stage development process:
-Context analysis and elicitation of user requirements
-Design of the BeSENSHome platform and evaluation in the laboratory
-Evaluation in a real-world context.
The activities to be carried out for this purpose are:
-Ethics, user management and stakeholder mapping
-Requirements and context analysis
-Iterative design of the BeSENSHOME platform in the co-creation process
-Planning and implementation of pilot studies and data analysis
WP3 | STUDY AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE BESENSHOME SENSORY EXTENSION
The main objective of this WP is to study and investigate the characteristics of neurodivergences as described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM – V). In particular, this WP will include the following tasks:
-the reactions that neurodivergent people may have to the four domains of indoor comfort will be studied: acoustics, thermo-hygrometric environment, visual environment and air quality. It will also proceed to determine and understand what types of stress can be caused by these four parameters.
-we will then proceed to define the actions that can be performed by the BeSENSHome system to be used as a sensory extension for neurodiverse people
-we will understand how the network of intelligent sensors linked to artificial intelligence can be trained in such a way as to recognise in advance events that may cause stress deeply related to the specific neurodivergence of the individual.
At the end of this activity, the BeSENSHome system will be able to recognise usage profiles and predictions based on the behaviour of individual users and customise the environment and sensory support and extension based on the specific individual in that specific environment
WP4 | DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF THE BESENSHOME INTEGRATED PLATFORM FOR REAL-WORLD SENSORY EXTENSION
WP4 will be dedicated to system design; this will include both hardware and software design, both of which will be developed from the results of WP2 and WP3. The objectives include the selection and procurement of sensors and hardware components, software development, installation and the testing phase of the solution. The development process involves several iterations to achieve the expected results. At the end of the process, the BeSENSHome system guidelines will be produced, i.e. the directions for use of the system, contextualised in environments occupied by users with cognitive disabilities. In addition, the business plan will be prepared to identify possible future developments of the BeSENSHome solution, future challenges and possible improvements.
WP5 | INTERIOR DESIGN AND SMARTBOXES
This WP will be concerned with defining the integration of the BeSENSHome sensory extension system within conventional living environments, such as homes, workplaces or care facilities. In particular, the intelligent sensor network will have to beintegrated into the existing furniture so that it will not be seen by users, so as to be as unobtrusive as possible. As part of the BeSENSHome project, smart boxes will be built in which the sensors and the connections between them will be incorporated. These smart boxes will be designed to integrate as much as possible with typical environments such as the living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, etc. These objects will then be produced using additive manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing, always seeking to use inexpensive and inexpensive procedures that are readily available in the trans-regional territory. From an architectural point of view, solutions will be found for materials, colours and finishes, systems for modulating natural and artificial light and for containing sound reverberation, which will favour the tactile, visual and acoustic comfort of people with different types of neurodivergence. This will facilitate their prolonged stay and independent activity in private, work and community environments.
